The number of axes on an electronic joystick refers to the number of independently controlled directions of movement, typically corresponding to the number of hydraulic circuits on the machine.

l Single-axis: Forward/backward or left/right movement along one axis. Suitable for simple lifting/lowering or push/pull functions, such as forklift mast control.

l Dual-axis: Forward/backward and left/right movement. The most common configuration, suitable for primary controls on excavators and loaders.

l Three or more axes: Adds rotation or another axis of movement. Suitable for aerial work platforms, complex agricultural machinery, robotics, and other applications.

The required number of axes should be determined based on the machine’s hydraulic circuits and control logic. Too many axes can increase operating complexity and cost, so confirm the requirements with the machine’s engineers.
